As a body of work, -xo paloma is a reflection on my creative process, as well as its place and power in the recovery of self. This is my love story about the resilience of the human spirit.
I am an adult survivor of extreme neglect and child abuse. I needed a paradigm shift from the 40 year false dichotomy of talk therapy. The process of cutting and tearing apart images and objects from: magazines, old library books, found objects stamped DISCARDED, felt kindred to my own desire to deconstruct the old and create something new. Eventually, I created my own small room at home where the need for personal space, privacy, and independence continues to be central to my healing.
